Hi, My name is Sharea Jaynae Whitmore I am from South Philadelphia. I am a 19 year old student at Delaware county community college in Media. I here to start my nursing career. I work at the airport that’s located in Southwest Philadelphia. My hobbies include me reading, going to school and working. My current relationship status is single because people at our age don’t want to commit to one person and I’m totally not ready to mingle.
My favorite writers are Fredrick Douglass and Maya Angelou I love them because they told us their whole life story without holding anything back. Maya Angelou told us about her being raped about the abused she been through from everybody. She showed her true self and wasn’t afraid so did Fredrick Douglass. Fredrick was born around slavery time he told us about how he taught himself how to read because he wasn’t allowed to go to school. He also explain to us how slaves only recieve one pair of pants and he had to use a pastic bag as jeans. Both of these writers use their lives to tell a great story and how they didn’t let everything around them or others define them.
When I read I always go for the Urban books I love reading the ganster books. I don’t know if it’s because I’m from South Philly but I love book with drama. I also like reading poems or writing them that have to do with the way I feel. I remember I wrote a poem about my old step dad that raised me and how difficult it was for me when he left my life: Letter to my Father.
I actually love writing I’m actually writing a fiction book and I’m also writing a non-fiction book about my brother. When I write I like writing it in a book first then I like typing it up. I also like having somebody edit it because when I write I make the most silly mistakes.
Why do I write? I write because I have a story and why not tell that story? I also write because I have a wild imagination what I be thinking I feel like other people will enjoy it. I also write because I been in bad situations and the only way I can get over it if I write about it. That’s why I’m writing a book about my brother.
Before my brother left I text him thank him he texted me back: “you know me." So I’m naming the book “ I Know You”. I feel with this book I can let my brother rest in peace and I can also be at peace. The experiences I went through shape me as a serious writer because most of the time when I write it’s about deep situations. I can reshape my author identity in this course by writing more about my life and what brought me to be the author I am today.
